Read with pleasure: Secrets of choosing the right books
I love reading books. I don’t read a lot, but I try to read a few pages a day.
I want to share some tips about books with you:
- Read what you really like.
To read everything in a row, what is fashionable now or needed for work – it is certainly possible, but I suggest you try to start reading on those topics that you like: fiction, romance, travel, fairy tales, detectives or popular science fiction. I believe that reading should take you to other worlds where your brain shuts down and life around you stops. - Quit reading if you don’t like a book.
I’m serious!!! We are taught back in school that we should finish the things we start. So this rule doesn’t work when we read for our own pleasure, and I give you permission to stop reading a book if you’re bored with it or don’t like it at all. It’s also okay to put a book aside and finish it later. And yes, it’s okay if you have several books started. The main thing is to enjoy the process! - Buy books.
I believe that everything comes back to us, so do what you would like to be done to you. A book is a lot of work by the author, editor, and artist. Your gratitude is payment for their labor. I’m sure you’d like to be paid for your work, too. - Listen to audiobooks.
Nowadays there is a great opportunity to listen to books. You can do household chores, drive somewhere, walk around town and listen to a book. - Give books as gifts.
Books are a great gift for anyone. You can pick one for any age and any subject. Better yet, ask what kind of book a person wants as a gift and give it to them.
Books develop us, expand our thinking, improve our memory, help us relax, and through them we become versatile individuals.
Notes for books
To memorize what you read, I suggest introducing notes that answer a few questions:
- The title of the book and the author.
- The genre of the book.
- Date of reading.
- Description of the book in three sentences.
- Best quotes from the book.
