What is inspiration? Why do we need it? Where do we find it?

I believe that without inspiration, life is boring. I’m sure everyone has been inspired at some time or another. I love the quote, “We change ourselves for one of two reasons – inspiration or despair” – Jim Rohn, an American speaker and business coach. If that’s true, then I want to inspire and be inspired, not wait for despair.

What is inspiration?

Have you ever wondered what makes us human? It’s our ability to be inspired! It’s the main engine of human culture development. It’s a special state of mind and soul. It’s characterized by a creative upsurge, a burst of energy and enthusiasm that drives us to creative activity.

Why do we need inspiration?

  1.  To combat routine and burnout. By finding inspiration in simple things, you overcome monotony and boredom.
  2.  To create something new. During inspiration, new ideas and associations arise unexpectedly.
  3.  To solve problems in an unconventional way. Inspiration allows you to look at the situation from a new angle and find creative solutions.
  4.  To increase concentration. Inspiration motivates new projects and hobbies. It encourages you to try new things, develop and grow as a person.
  5.  To notice the beautiful world around you. When you are open to inspiration, the world around you becomes brighter and more interesting. You notice beauty and details that you used to pass by.

Where to find inspiration?

“Inspiration exists, but it must catch you at work” – Pablo Picasso, Spanish and French painter, sculptor and graphic artist.

Inspiration can and should be practiced daily.

  1.  Become an observer. Inspiration can come from anywhere – whether it’s a walk in the park, observing people, studying architecture, or just observing nature.
  2.  Socialize with people. Talking to different people can bring new ideas and perspectives. Listen to their stories, share yours – it can be a source of inspiration and new projects.
  3.  Read and watch a variety of content. Books, movies, music from different genres and cultures broaden your horizons and stimulate your imagination.
  4.  Keep a journal. Carry a notebook or use an app on your phone to record your thoughts, ideas, observations and inspiration as they come. By capturing observations and thoughts, you can come back to them later.
  5.  Utilize creative hobbies and activities. Drawing, sculpting, photography, and other creative endeavors train creative thinking. Learning something new can bring a fresh flow of ideas and inspiration.
  6.  Practice meditation and reflection. Carve out time for silence and self-reflection. Meditation can help you gain mental clarity and find inner inspiration.

The key is to be open to new experiences and be curious. Inspiration can come from anywhere.
